SCaLE writing day for The Open Source Way 2.0
We're hosting a writing day for The Open Source Way 2.0 at SCaLE 18x on March 6, 2020.
We're co-located with SCaLE 18x at the Pasadena Convention Center. The TOSW writing day is happening on March 06 from 09:00 to 17:00 in Room 107. You can drop in any time to write, brainstorm, chat, or help in any way. We'll have several project maintainers on-site to explain the work and help you get started. Another maintainer will be holding virtual office hours for anyone seeking deeper brainstorming, outlining, or writing assistance.
We'll periodically deliver brief presentation to bring new folks up to speed.
The writing day coordinators are Karsten Wade, Shaun McCance, and Bryan Behrenshausen.
You can connect with Bryan remotely—regardless of whether you're on-site or not!

If you want to get involved early, we're planning workshop materials in issue #14.
If you have 60-90 minutes and are comfortable writing on a topic (even a draft), we can work with you to find a section or topic and help you write.
Otherwise, we have a number of activities that can be done by anyone in only 15-30 minutes:
- Look over the outline to spot gaps and inconsistencies.
- For designers, sketch draft layouts or graphics for the web site, logo, or other assets.
- Work with one of our coordinators to brainstorm the topics and material you'd expect to be covered in a particular chapter or section.
- Talk with us about the process we're using for community involvement in a non-software project.
- Outline or write the contributors file.
- Help us walk thru some vocabulary and terminology to build out a lexicon.
- Work with us on the tooling to build the guidebook and the site.
