Images cannot be zoomed in on the Photos page #7349

What

  • The app's Photos page shows all the images related to the current product. It is pretty useful to identify labels and other information and then complete the other sections. However the text is often too small to be readable unless zooming into the image which is, unfortunately, not possible within the app.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Start the app.
  2. Search for 3564709162553 and click to modify the product.
  3. Open the Photos page
  4. Open the 31/12/2025 photo with a dish image in the bottom right corner.
  5. The text is too small to be read.
  6. Try to zoom in by pinching out. This causes the image to scroll left of right instead of triggering the zoom operation.
  7. Try to zoom in by doing a double-tap+swipe up. This has no effect.

A workaround is to:

  1. Click on Details.
  2. Click on the URL to open the image in a web browser.
  3. The browser should then let you zoom into the image. But this requires getting out of the OFF app.

See also issue #7347.

There is another workaround that only works for ingredients, nutrition facts and packaging components images: instead of trying to zoom in/out on the Photos page, go to the image's corresponding page and zoom in/out there. Note that this does not work for the product image, nor for any of the supplemental images.

Expected behavior

Swiping left/right moves from the current image to the previous/next one.

  • Currently this appears to interfere with the pinching gesture.
  • One fix would be to remove support for this swiping gesture since one can easily move from one image to another by going back to the list.
  • Another option would be to add support for the standard double-tap + swipe up/down gesture.

Why

  • When users cannot read the text in images they cannot use it to complete the product information.

Screenshot

This screen provides no way to zoom into the image: not through a gesture, not through the burger menu and not really through the Details button either (but see the first workaround).
