Cannot Use API Rest

Hello. I am trying to update my config settings for Reddit following their new API restrictions (#8559) because I can no longer download files from some subreddits. I can't detect a pattern for which subreddits work and which don't, other than the ones that don't work each having a very small number of users. I've tried to follow instructions from #8559, but I cannot get gallery-dl to use the API Rest function, whether I add it to the config.json file "api": "rest" or in the argument itself -o api=rest. Either way, I get the output [reddit][debug] Using default API credentials (client-id 6N9uN0krSDE-ig). I've added cookies to the config.json using the Get cookies.txt LOCALLY extension.
