I am seeing this in #455447 too.

I have seen this in other repos, too. I have no idea how GitHub decides to mark this a parent. Things I checked, so far:

• The first parent of this PR's head commit is 35b8d97. ❌
• The first parent of the temporary merge commit in the CI run that opened the PR was 35b8d97. ❌
• The first parent of the temporary merge commit that the API returns right now is 5abf96a. ❌
• The REST API does not return any information about that parent.

Observations:

• The very same issue is shown as parent for all PRs created by nixpkgs-ci to release-25.05, i.e. all automated backport - even for PRs created before that parent PR was merged.
• No PR is shown as parent for all manually created PRs to release-25.05, except staging-next-25.05 iteration 5 - 2025-10-22 #454871.
• I also see a parent PR (but a different one) for haskellPackages: stackage LTS 24.12 -> LTS 24.16 #452254, which merges into staging.
• I have not seen this for any PR targeting the default branch of a repo, yet.

This stuff is... odd to say the least.
