[Bug]: UI Flicker in Session Tab When Switching Sessions While Running Codex CLI #5088

Problem description

When using Termux on a Honor 100 Pro, I encounter a persistent UI flickering issue in the session tab after creating or switching to a new session while codex cli is running in the original session.

After swiping from the left edge to open the sidebar and tapping “New session”, a floating tab/header appears at the top of the terminal interface, showing the session name and a spinning activity indicator. This tab then begins to flicker rapidly and continuously. The flickering specifically occurs when the original session is running codex cli and the user switches to another session — the tab then erratically displays the title of the other session while flickering.

Steps to reproduce the behavior.

Open Termux on Honor 100 Pro.

Start codex cli in the initial session.

Swipe from the left edge to open the sidebar.

Tap “New session” to create a second session.

Switch back to the first session (or observe the top tab after creation).

Result: The top session tab flickers rapidly, intermittently showing the session title of the other session.

What is the expected behavior?

The session tab at the top should remain visually stable and correctly display the current session’s title without flickering.

System information
