Tutorial guide for installation on an Android Phone

Hi I am able to run it on my old android mobile and it is working perfectly. I used termux then install ubuntu using proot-distro then clone the repo inside ubuntu and follow install from source.

I'm attempting to run it in Termux directly to avoid the overhead of proot; but running the pre-compiled linux version of picoclaw triggers DNS issues which seem to be common when using a non android/termux specific pre-built version.

Recommended Termux build/install (ARM64)

1. Install prerequisites

pkg update
pkg upgrade -y
pkg install -y git make golang clang

2. Clone and build

If build fails here, update the go.mod go version from the specified 1.25.7 one (or whatever version it is) by removing the patch version (so simply 1.25 instead). This should fix it.

cd picoclaw
export GOTOOLCHAIN=local
make deps
make build

3. Install into Termux PATH

install -m 755 ./build/picoclaw-linux-arm64 "$PREFIX/bin/picoclaw"

4. Verify

picoclaw --help

Avoid editing go.mod (use GOTOOLCHAIN)

Instead of changing a go.mod “toolchain” or Go version directive (which can break builds on systems that can’t auto-download toolchains), force Go to use Termux’s installed toolchain for this repo: go

export GOTOOLCHAIN=local
make deps
make build

If you want it persistent:

echo 'export GOTOOLCHAIN=local' >> ~/.profile

@adrianlungu Hi I tried steps that you mentioned but I am facing this error:

~/picoclaw $ export GOTOOLCHAIN=local
~/picoclaw $ make deps
go: go.mod requires go >= 1.25.7 (running go 1.25.6; GOTOOLCHAIN=local)
make: *** [Makefile:136: deps] Error 1

Any workaround to fix this issue?

@Akshay-Rana-Gujjar in that case, what I did was to go in go.mod and change the go version to 1.25 instead of the already specified one for which there's no Go Termux toolchain yet. That should fix it.

go: github.com/mymmrac/telego@v1.6.0 requires go >= 1.25.5 (running go 1.25.4; GOTOOLCHAIN=local)... need to find a newer version of go through pkg...

Trying to avoid proot to avoid more overhead but it might be the only way right now.

Actually, can't get proot running either due to the go 1.25.4 version issue as well. Trying to figure out how to get a termux-native golang without having to compile golang from source on phone....

Not even more than 1 hour after I post this, the termux golang version has been bumped to 1.26.0 upstream, termux native-builds of pico claw are no longer an issue. If it's not available, use termux-change-repo to point to the default mirror (packages-cf.termux.dev) and do a pkg upgrade
