Removing a locale

Hi,
We would like to delete a locale (translation) we have added previously.
Do you get any advice (best practice) to deal with that correctly to redirect all routes from "ourwebsite.com/hi/test" for example to "ourwebsite.com/test"  ("/" is the default for our "en" locale")?

We want to be sure that all our routes are well redirected to something with 301 code (for Google SEO).
