I decided to temporally delist AmpFin from the App Store. I have some issues with the app, and got some reviews that said similar things. And I don't want to sell something I don't fully stand behind.

I haven't abandoned AmpFin, and I don't plan to. But I have less time than I had two years ago, and programming takes time. I am making excellent progress with the next ShelfPlayer release (#189), and it really is a big improvement in every way I can conceive. And I want to bring these improvements to AmpFin as well, but doing this will take time. When I am done, AmpFin will be made available again.

This doesn't affect you if you either already bought the app or if you are side loading.

I just stumbled upon this app while looking for a good ipadOS jellyfin music client. From what I've seen, this looks promising and it's a shame it was taken down. if you don't mind, could you elaborate on why this decision was made?
I'd recommend that AmpFin be put on the app store again as I think that it'll still be a net benefit for the Jellyfin community, to have another open-source client to choose from again; even if it's imperfect, I'd still choose to use something like AmpFin over a proprietary client anyday.
In any case, I think that this announcement would be less confusing for everybody if you inserted it into the readme. I spent some time trying to search for it in the app store only to finally see your pinned issue.

Hallo, es ist spät und ich bin jetzt mal so frei auf deutsch zu antworten. Ich glaube das ist okay, weil wenn ich es richtig erinnere, bist du ein deutscher Entwickler. Andernfalls hoffe ich du siehst es mir nach und benutzt eine gute Übersetzungssoftware 😅. Ampfin ist aus meiner Sicht der absolut beste Jellyfin-Client für iOS und es wäre unfassbar traurig wenn es ihn (auch in seiner jetzigen Form) nicht mehr geben würde.

Die Probleme, von denen du sprichst, kann ich 0,0 nachvollziehen ich nutze AmpFin jeden Tag und bei mir funktioniert es einfach problemlos - du bleibst aber leider auch recht wage in deinem Post, worum es bei den Peoblemen konkret geht - helfe sonst gerne. Das einzige, was ich mir wünschen würde, wäre, dass er nach einem Neustart des Programms die Abspiel Position behält, aber das ist wirklich nice to have - falls du Feedback brauchst, lad mich gerne zum TestFlight ein. ich helfe gerne.

I may have been a bit hasty. The backend is in slightly worse shape than the frontend, but after running some tests, it seems to be working okay. Many of the suboptimal elements are less noticeable due to the power of modern devices, though the experience could be impacted on lower-end ones.

I also see the benefits of putting it back on the App Store, so I’ll go ahead with that. Thanks for your comments!

I’ll be making AmpFin unavailable again, in part because of #118. Unfortunately, I now have far less time than when I started this project, and the same is true for ShelfPlayer, and my focus is on the latter.

If you’re looking for an alternative, give https://discrete.app/ a try. I don’t use it myself, but it looks quite promising.

I might come back to AmpFin someday, but that’s not on the near‑term agenda.

Same, best Jellyfin Apple Music look-a-like (before iOS26) but I might fork it or build my own one, based on AmpFin's appearance (if i learn swift lol) :D

@rasmuslos hello, I'm developer of Discrete. Thank you for mentioning my work, I hope people will find it satisfying, especially with latest release of downloads and CarPlay support coming in next one.
I'll keep an eye on AmpFin too, cause liberty of choice is always good, not to mention that it is open source.

Is it completely dead now, or is there still a chance that the app will reappear in the store in the future? I've tried both Manet and Discrete, but unfortunately both apps generate duplicate entries in my Last.fm profile. I suspect this is because both apps send multiple play events to the Jellyfin server when a track is started. I have already contacted the Manet developer, but unfortunately the problem has not yet been fixed. Ampfin is the only app that does this correctly and is therefore still my main Jellyfin app.

Neither sends duplicate events, it usually because of plugins interpretation of progress values.

If it's due to a plugin, then I should have the same errors with AmpFin, but I don't. I just noticed that Discrete sends multiple events to Jellyfin when starting a track (I can see this in the Jellyfin activities), while AmpFin only ever sends one event. And then I don't get duplicate entries on Last.fm for longer tracks. I tested this with Discrete the night before last, and the Coltrane album "A Love Surpreme" and the song "Part 3: Pursuance" were scrobbled twice. I even set up a completely new Jellyfin instance for testing (only with the above-mentioned album) and completely reconfigured the plugin there, and I had the same behavior with the duplicate entries.
