Describe the bug

tried to update location on a photo and get this error. Worked recently

The search for a location using Nominatim has failed.

Tried several times now... nothing changed. Maybe an API change?

I always get this error: "Failed to search for location with Nominatim"

And it does not matter when I try it. Is there on option to set an alternative location service? I can host a server on my own and don't need the official service by OSM.

It used to work a few days ago. Actually i do not want to host an own nominatim source. Can it somehow beeing fixed?

Works fine for me. Maybe nominatim is blocking your address. What's there in console / network tab of the browser?

It never worked here. In the console I can see the following error:

Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/search.php?q=Mylocation&format=jsonv2' from origin 'https://mynextcloud.example' has been blocked by CORS policy: Response to preflight request doesn't pass access control check: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

So as I see it, using nominatim.openstreetmap.org is not the best way to implement the geolocation service. Instead there should be self-hosted nomination server for production use. I am willing to do so since I run the Nextcloud instance for more than 50 users - but this would require to be able to configure the API URL as I suggested in #1500

I get status 418 when i lookup via tag editor

Indeed, the .php is wrong. It must be without .php: https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/search?q=Berlin&format=jsonv2

When I manually replace https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/search.php with https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/search in js/memories-main.js it works. So the fix would be to correct that URL in the source.

i can confirm the update of the string in memories-main.js works for the web browser. I just tested it also on my mobile and i get the same error. How can this be?

If it only works in the desktop browser but not on the mobile, then the mobile did not load the updated version of memories-main.js but still uses the cached versiom.
