Increase Code Compatibility

Improve compatibility with the following tools:

• VCS
• Verible
• Verilator

I can see that VCS seems to work now, if we update the AXI dependency to a newer version that fixes some VCS incompatibilities with multi-dimensional arrays: (specifically to head of main, as we need pulp-platform/axi@27f494b) as well.
