Boot messages are displayed on screen during startup and after login before the desktop appears #3804

Description

@LWJENNI

Describe the bug

When I start my PC, text messages/log lines are displayed on the screen during the boot process.

After the login screen appears and I enter my password, more text lines are displayed again before the graphical desktop starts.

The system eventually starts normally, but these messages are visible to the user during both parts of the startup process.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Power on or restart the PC.
  2. Wait for the system to start booting.
  3. Observe the screen before the login screen appears.
  4. Several text/log lines are displayed.
  5. Log in using the graphical authentication screen.
  6. Observe the screen again before the desktop appears.
  7. More text/log lines are displayed before the COSMIC desktop starts.

Expected behavior

The boot process should transition cleanly to the graphical login screen and then to the desktop.

System boot messages should not normally be displayed on the graphical screen during startup unless this is intentionally enabled or a boot error occurs.

Desktop:

  • OS: Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS
  • Desktop: COSMIC
  • Display server: Wayland

Additional context

The system does not appear to crash or fail to boot. After the messages disappear, the desktop starts and works normally.

The issue happens during every startup/reboot.

I would like to know whether these messages are expected boot output or whether they indicate a problem with the graphical boot/login transition.
