Request for Account Recovery and Email Update for GitHub Account “arnab37” #178189
-
| Select Topic AreaGeneral GitHub Feature AreaIssues BodyHi, My name is Arnab Bose. I created a GitHub account a few years ago while I was a graduate student at North Carolina State University, primarily for publication-related purposes. The account link is: [arnab37 (Arnab Bose) · GitHub] (https://github.com/arnab37). The account was registered under my university email ID ([email protected]), which is now permanently inactive. Unfortunately, I have also forgotten the password, as I have not accessed the account for several years. At the time, the account may have been linked to my old U.S. phone number, which is also inactive since I relocated to India about a year ago. The issue is that I had uploaded several codes related to my Ph.D. research on that account. One of my published papers cites a code originally uploaded there: “Predicting Total Electron-Ionization Cross Sections and GC–MS Calibration Factors Using Machine Learning” — The Journal of Physical Chemistry A. (Link: [Predicting Total Electron-Ionization Cross Sections and GC–MS Calibration Factors Using Machine Learning | The Journal of Physical Chemistry A] (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.jpca.0c06308)). The GitHub account name (“arnab37”) is explicitly mentioned in the publication. Over the years, my Ph.D. advisor, Dr. Phillip R. Westmoreland (Chemical Engineering, NC State University), and I have identified a few errors in the original uploaded files. We are now working on corrections and further developments. Given this situation, I kindly request that the email ID associated with the GitHub account be changed to [email protected], which belongs to Dr. Westmoreland. Unlike student email addresses, his account will remain permanently active and accessible. I have copied Dr. Westmoreland in this email. Please feel free to contact either of us if you’d like to schedule a brief call (via Google Meet or Zoom) to verify any details. I have created the current GitHub account with [email protected], for my post-PhD work. I don't want to merge these two accounts. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Sincerely, |

| Hi @Arbos1990 👋 If you’ve lost access to your two-factor authentication (2FA) credentials, you can regain access to your account by using your recovery codes or another recovery option. Please visit GitHub’s Virtual Assistant to explore your available options. If GitHub doesn’t support 2FA via text message in your country, you’ll need to set up authentication using a TOTP application. For more information on configuring 2FA with a TOTP app, here is the documentation. I highly recommend you read through our GitHub 2FA Troubleshooting & Prevention Guide 🔐 if you have additional questions. If you’re unable to resolve your issue with the resources above, please open a ticket in our Support Portal as no other Community Discussions team members will be able to assist with account-related questions. We appreciate your understanding! |
