Having the same issue here for the few last hours Just to clarify, I had not updated yet when I started experiencing the problem. The update changed nothing. I tried clearing the caches/data (specifically in the following paths: C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp\VSGitHubCopilotLogs and C:\Users\Projets.vs\copilot-chat), but it didn’t change anything.

I've got the same problem, tried on different computers - same story on both preview and regular visual studio 2022 (updated to the latest 17.4.16)

The issue is caused by a bug in Visual Studio 2022 version 17.14.6 affecting Copilot. Downgrade to a stable version like 17.14.5 or earlier. Clear Copilot cache folders: Uninstall and reinstall the GitHub Copilot extension. Make sure your Copilot subscription is active at https://github.com/settings/copilot. Wait for an official fix if the issue persists.

It sounds like Copilot is triggering a serialization or parsing error inside the ConversationBase pipeline, likely due to malformed or unexpected output when trying to generate a response. Since you're on a Preview build of Visual Studio 2022 (v17.14.6 Preview 1.0), this could be a temporary compatibility issue with GitHub Copilot’s plugin version. Here are a few steps that might help: Roll back to a stable release of Visual Studio 2022 — preview versions often break Copilot integration due to API changes. Clear Copilot session cache: Sometimes local data causes Copilot to fail parsing responses. Navigate to %AppData%\Code\User\globalStorage\github.copilot and try clearing it. Reinstall GitHub Copilot extension directly via the Visual Studio Marketplace, not just through the repair option. Check firewall or proxy settings that might be affecting Copilot’s JSON-RPC communication. I ran into a similar failure while trying to benchmark AI tools during a project on real-time train speed analysis. We were comparing models for telemetry parsing, similar to how Copilot handles streaming JSON input. If you're into how systems interpret speed and telemetry in high-pressure environments, check out this breakdown on Top 20 Fastest High Speed Trains in the World — the tech parallels might surprise you. Let me know if you try rolling back your VS version and whether it resolves the issue!

I'm facing same issue after update to Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2022 (64-bit) Version 17.14.6 (June 2025). Tried all suggested fixes except downgrade because I really don't have time for this. Hope that the fix will be released soon
