All my payment attempts were declined, on three different cards

I'm trying to sponsor Adumb
I filled my information, double and triple checked it, tried two different browsers (Chrome and Firefox), tried a debit card and 2 credit cards, all in good standing, and they all got declined when I click Save payment information with the following message The credit card was declined by the payment processor, please verify the card's information. If the problem persists, please contact the card's issuer.
A dark rectangle expands by the recaptcha which makes me suspect the latter as the cause. I do not get prompts to verify I'm not a robot.
When a bank declines one of my payments, they send me a notification by text/email. I got none in this case.
I believe the issue is on Github's end.

I tried both Visa and Mastercard. 1 Visa, 2 Mastercards.

Hi @nas-mouti, sorry you're having some trouble with this sponsorship. I understand you tried different cards, but have you tried contacting the card issuer? You may want to verify that they don't see issues on their end.

I haven't, because it is highly unlikely that 3 different card issuers are having the same problem. Github is the only place where I had any issues at all.

Resurrecting this thread as I had the same issue. Multiple cards all declined.
The solution was to enable 2FA(a good practice anyway). But the error of a declined card is so unhelpful.
Some kind of indication that 2FA is required would be a great addition to any of the payment pages.

I already had 2FA enabled but ran into this same issue. I tried 3 cards, all declined with the same error - the cards work everywhere else.
I then changed my payment method to Paypal with one of the same cards and that worked so the issue seems to be on Github's side.
I also tried using different browser windows, clearing cache and cookies - none of that worked.

Try to disable browser extensions which blocks third-party trackers. I have Privacy Badger extension, which was blocking *.stripe.com on the Payment method update page. Once I've disabled the extension - card is added without any issues.

This is ridiculous. I use the same card for all other services, but it is not working here. GitHub is refusing to accept payments.

I tried several other cards, but the same issue occurred!

I attempted the following:

1. Different browsers (for instance, Safari)
2. Different cards (but encountered the same issue)

Turn off VPN and retry. The credit card verification should now process.
