In the survey, it was found that:
48% of newer contributors don’t confidently know how to get started. Intra- and inter-SIG communication and contributing guides need improvement.
This is critical feedback but difficult to follow up on, as we don't know what people actually tried to do to get started. I propose running a series of interviews that either follow up with survey respondents or interview other new contributors to understand the key roadblocks.
This would take the form of the interviewee sharing their screens to show exactly where they've landed and where they've looked for "getting started" materials. If we can find commonalities, it would help us make tactical plans to address gaps.
