We had to add #1689 to fix an issue introduced in Jaeger 1.59. Jaeger has a [PR](https://github.com/jaegertracing/jaeger/pull/5739) to fix this issue (recently merged). We should revert the change when Jaeger is released, and the demo is updated to that version.
