Problem to be solved

When I am writing chord symbols, and want to change sound from piano to accordion, I can't because they aren't on Muse Hub.

In the current nightly you can select individual instruments in the soundfonts folder. So you can set the chord playback to accordion.

There is a limitation... the chords sound indefinitely. But that is reported elsewhere.

Does that resolve this issue? (I am unsure I understand your meaning by "Register")

What OP probably means is accordion in Muse Sounds with the ability to select an accordion register (see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accordion_reed_ranks_and_switches).
They all sound different and it'd be great to have them in Muse Sounds when writing for e. g. an accordion orchestra.

The current workaround for Accordion Register Playback is:

1. Install a custom sound font (because the built-in MS-Basic Accordion sound font is not that great, especially for orchestra or multipart-writing).
2. Put a "Change Instrument" where you want to have a register switch.
3. Change the sound font in that region to the sound font you like (or for basic Octave-Transpositions (octava 16', einchörig 8', piccolo 4') set the instrument transposition to "1 Octave down/up")
4. Hide the "Change Instrument"

This is a lot of work for simple register changes, as these are very common. This can also mess up the Part Naming and the part engraving in general, when you are not careful, to hide everything. One notices that MuseScore is not really specalized on accordion music, as it is a rather niche type of music. And Musescore already has a Palette for register switch symbols. It would be really nice and much more usable, if these were Stave-Texts in disguise, so they are placed above the stave (not onto the stave, like currently). Although, there are even more registers and register combinations, it would be a huge help, if these symbols would (just like an octava-alta/bassa-line) change the octave of playback. For octave combinations like 16' + 8' and 8' + 4' etc, for starters it would be enough, if the playback was playing the lowest octave, as it dominates the sound. This might be easier to implement, as no sound font change has to happen. The notion of these is also a state-machine like the dynamics: When it says forte, it stays forte until it says something else. Likewise the accordion stays in a register until it says differently. These are just some ideas for relatively simple compromises, so we accordion musicians improve our MuseScore experience and the MuseScore-Team does not have too much to implement (and learn about the subject).
