Using Moose
Table of Contents:
To get started using Moose, import tracks by either dragging mp3 files to the table, or by going to File -> Open (⌘O). This will open those files and display all the information it can find in the table.
Note: Moose will only pull in .mp3 files
Every field on the table is editable. With tracks opened in the table, double click on any cell to edit the value.
While editing fields, you can traverse the table data using the Enter and Tab keys. Pressing Enter will go to the row directly below it. Pressing Shift + Enter will do the inverse, going to the row directly above it. If you are at the bottom of the rows in your table, pressing enter will send you to the top of the column.
Similarly, pressing Tab will go to the column to the right of the cell you're editing. Pressing Shift + Tab will go to the column to the left of the cell you're editing. If you're at the farthest right column, pressing tab will go to the first column.
Note: The only column that isn't editable is the album art column (Farthest right).
You can edit this field by clicking in the row + column you want to change. Normally, right clicking on a row will open a menu with some normal options, but when you right click on the album art column, you'll see two more options, "Add Artwork" and "Remove Artwork" so you can manually manage artwork for specific rows.
If you have multiple tracks selected in the table, these fields will populate with the editable fields. These fields will automatically be populated based on the values in the table.
Let's take the example above into consideration. Notice how all of the tracks in the table are selected. These all happen to be from the same album Places We Don't Know. The Album field in this editor will show as that album title, Places We Don't Know, since all the tracks have that field in common. On the flipside, if any of the tracks that are selected have different values, such as the Track Titles, which are usually different, the value in this editor will show as "-" meaning there are multiple values in that field.
These fields are editable, so you can edit the values there, even the uncommon "-" fields. Either press the "Update Fields" button or press Enter when you are typing in a field to propagate these changes to the table.
You can right click on any row or selection of rows, and choose "More Info..." in the pop up menu that appears to open a dialog with some more detailed information on the track. Besides the usual Title, Artist, Album, etc, you can see:
- Track length
- Bitrate
- Sample rate
- Comment
You can also edit the same information you could usually edit on this modal, with the added editable comment field. The track length, bitrate, and sample rate are not editable.
Similar to the multiple fields panel in the bottom right of the main table window, any fields that have the same value across all selected will show as they are. Any field that differs across the rows will show as "-" in the field.
To edit track information in this modal, click the Edit button in the bottom right corner, which makes the text fields editable. The button will now say "Submit," which you can press when you're done editing the fields. You'll see the values change on the table as you save values. You can also click the left and right arrow buttons to go to the next/previous rows. Those buttons also save the values in the table. The left and right arrow buttons will be disabled if you have multiple rows selected.
