Is support for new Chrome/Chromium 137+ coming back? (I guess upgrade to Manifest V3 is required)

I can't believe I can't find an existing issue for this. Maybe I'm missing something obvious? :)

As you may know, Chrome 137 no longer allows MV2 extensions.
So running:

web-ext run -v -t chromium

Won't load the extension, because the companion "web-ext Reload Manager Extension" is using MV2:

web-ext/src/extension-runners/chromium.js

FYI: this was fixed in web-ext 8.8.0 (https://github.com/mozilla/web-ext/releases/tag/8.8.0)
