This i recently faced i collected a lot for links in a text file, i was downloading them with the

-I, --input-file-comment FILE

my system crashed because i ran in some stupid BSOD error. when i fixed it tried resuming the download i noticed the input file was filled with "00H null character" i.e. fully corrupted! i have some manual alternatives in mind which i think can help me avoid this in the future. however it would be nice feature to have if gallery-dl can backup the input file in a in a custom folder with couple of iterations like

.\backup
 |-Input1.txt 
 |-Input2.txt 

this also happens sometime when the disk runs out of space.

A full backup solution for input files won't happen - write your own script if you really want this - but writing the new input file to a temp file first instead of overwriting it in-place like is already done for cookies.txt files (0d72789) sounds like a good idea

Yeah, if there's a system crash, BSOD even, then there is a very high likelihood that something is really wrong with your system - this should never happen in normal operation. Anyway, definitely not an gallery-dl issue.
