[Boosty] 401 Unauthorized when downloading attachment files (v1.31.0 on Windows 11)

Description

When downloading content from Boosty (boosty.to), gallery-dl can successfully download the regular images/videos from a post, but fails on the post’s attached files (e.g. extra downloadable files).

The attached files fail with 401 Unauthorized from cdn.boosty.to, while the rest of the post downloads without issues.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Use gallery-dl v1.31.0 on Windows 11.
2. Run gallery-dl on a Boosty post that contains both:
   normal media (images/videos visible in the post), and one or more extra attached files (downloadable resources, not directly viewable inline).
3. Observe that normal images/videos download fine, but attached files fail.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried downloading using the Authorization header value mentioned in issue #8203 , and it worked normally in this case. This indicates that your guess was likely correct—it is indeed the same issue as #8203 .

No, not yet. It's a similar problem as #8203 was in the past and it happened again.

Seems like everything works the same as before and nothing on gallery-dl's side broke. Maybe it was just your accessToken value that expired.

Guess I could add a check and warning for such a case, given that the auth cookie contains accessToken, refreshToken, and an expiresAt timestamp.

Thank you for your feedback. In fact, before receiving it I had already updated my cookie.txt file to ensure that the accessToken had not expired (if this is indeed the correct way to update it). I noticed that when accessing the regular images and videos in the post, they can be downloaded normally; only when accessing attachments—such as compressed archives—does a 401 error appear. At the same time, if I click Link https://cdn.boosty.to/file/xxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxx?user_id=xxxxxxxxx&content_id=xxxxxxxx&expire_time=xxxxxxxxxxx&sign=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx shown in the log output, it opens in the browser and the file downloads successfully. Therefore, I am still inclined to think that Boosty may have changed its authentication logic, which is causing gallery-dl to fail to download properly.

The above is just my speculation. Thank you again for your previous feedback and help, and I’m also willing to provide any necessary information to help fully resolve these issues.

After manually specifying the Authorization header in the .conf file, the attachment can be downloaded successfully. However, when downloading using the cookie.txt file, a 401 error is returned.

I suspect there may be an authorization/permission issue when sending the download request to https://cdn.boosty.to/file/.
