[Fandom.com] File history downloading and site-wide settings

1. The fandom.com extractor default behaviour is to download all versions of a file and to avoid clobbering, it appends the first eight characters of the SHA1 checksum to the file name.
   Is there any way to alter this behaviour (I didn't find anything about it in the configuration.rst file or the issues) so that e.g. only certain files from the file history are downloaded or the file history is ignored altogether, and only the current image is downloaded?

2. Is there a way to configure the behaviour of all fandom.com wiki extractors with one setting, instead of having to do add a section for each wiki?

Not directly, but you should be able to use --range to select only certain files, although that depends very much on file order and position, or --filter to check, for example, date metadata.

It should be possible to add an option to only download the latest version of File:... entries, if that would be helpful.

Settings under the fandom base-category will apply for all Fandom instances.

But settings under the wikimedia base category will also apply to fandom sites

1. How about you implement an integer field starting with 0 (the current version) counting up the with each version (I'm sure someone might be interested in having the program download the newest n versions of a file or so)?
2. Thanks, but is there a field for the language of a wiki (so that one could tell files downloaded from, say, de.wikipedia.org and en.wikipedia.org)? If not, could you implement it, please, I'm sure it would be useful (AFAIK there are files that only exist on one language variant of, say, the Wikipedia or a Fandom.com wiki).

@arisboch Now that #8330 has been merged and v1.30.9 released, you can filter out past image revisions using -o image-revisions=500 --filter num==1, where num is the sequence number for each revision, although as per gallery-dl's tradition, it starts from 1 instead of 0.
