[BUG]: Missing features in litehtml

Brief description of the issue

What is missing or is buggy:

• missing print to PDF
• we have quirkc in text selection
• missing RTL support
• no GIF animations
• no media playback
• no videa thumbnails Show thumbnail for videos? #2156
• problematic performance with more complex HTML and/or more loaded pictures [BUG]: Articles from kill-the-newsletter.com freeze the app #2148
• text and URL drag support is done via middle button click

Getting Segmentation fault. this is with commit 88c119b logs attached. The last line in Konsole is listed below.
First run: Segmentation fault rssguard --log rssgaurd-88c119b.log

Edit: Sort of stuck right now. Can't go back to 5.0.4. I'll live. ;)

You can use DB backup and use 5.0.4 just fine, the backup is automatically created in "database" subfolder of your user data folder.

Segmentation fault QT_WEBENGINE_DISABLE_GPU=1 rssguard - nope.

QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS="--disable-gpu" rssguard - succeeds, will test on more feed articles.

I using the same feed and article while testing.

how do you install/launch rssguard?

I build a Slackware package and install that. I have a desktop file in ~/.config/autostart and can start from a favorite in the KDE menu. To make the variable pick up I can create script in /etc/profile.d/to set the variable for rssgaurd. It is possible to modify the default desktop as well.

Edit: Additional thought, in addition to command line option, maybe a CMAKE build option? Right now I am going the /etc/profile.d/rssgaurd.sh to set the QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS variable.

I've tested on several feeds and articles. Working well with QTWEBENGINE_CHROMIUM_FLAGS="--disable-gpu" rssguard.

Just though I would add me simple solution for this. Just a simple bash file /etc/profile.d/rssgaurd.sh with the execute bit set to run on login.

While I resigned my self to use RSS Guard without the webengine I am happy with it coming back. Notably to load a few web pages within RSS Guard. Most feeds I just load externally (Firefox) if I want to know more. I never thought about saving a page as PDF before, tried it out, kind of cool. Nice to know it's available. The biggest feature I missed with lithtml was sites the use Anibus, even using the playwrite.py scirpt was not consistent. I found that using curl worked on those sites. I still run in to an occasional protected site that errors out, being able to load the page now fixes that. I do hope that the ad block stuff stays out. Never really worked well for me.

I just built and installed the latest commit 20260420_e254d97f11 (my version number for the slackware package). Build with WEB_ARTICLE_VIEWER_WEBENGINE-on set.

Yes, agreed.

There will be two major things:

WebEngine will be technically much cleaner implementation (which I am not greatly happy with when coding it) and it will be simple while offering some nice features

Text-based previewer will be very very lite, but will display nice layour with minimal-* skins. It will not load/display images (deliberately) and will have very limited set of features - but will be fast and kiss.

So every user will have the choice, either you want images, javascript and stuff, use WebEngine. If you prefer high privacy, just stick to text-based.
