I know that there is also #601 to fix this, but there has been no response from the author to the review since a few weeks. And since it is a bug with a known fix i would like to get it resolved in a timely manner.

I decided to check for the magic numbers of a gzip stream and not to check the content-encoding response header, because http_get_last_response_headers() is only available in PHP >= 8.4 and $http_response_header (which would work for all versions <= 8.4) is deprecated since 8.5.
