Open a keystore without entering the password

I can't believe I'm the first one to run into this, but I can't find help on this subject anywhere. I've got a keystore.jks that was given in an example project. I can examine it, add to it, remove from it, using keytool. When prompted for a password on the command line, I just hit .
When I try to view the same files with Keystore Exporer, I get prompted for a password. I hit OK, only to be advised that the password is incorrect. What am I missing?

The keystore password serves only as an integrity protection. When you hit enter, keytool simply skips the integrity check (i.e. uses no password at all for opening the keystore). That feature is missing in KSE. When you don't type anything in the KSE password dialog, it tries to use an empty string as the keystore password. This fails because both of your keystores actually have a non-empty password set.
I'll consider adding this feature to KSE.

hi its quite odd to me that just silently skip the integrity check on empty passphrase, it would be much better to prompt "Tampered keystore or incorrect passphrase, try to open anyway?" first in case passphrase/integrity check failed!

edit: we should not loose the integrity check so easily!
