Description
Right after creating a new cluster, I log in to it with starcluster sshmaster <name-of-cluster>, and immediately run the command apt-get update (as the very first command after login). The output from this command reveals several problems:

Maybe StarCluster's default configuration for apt-get is out-of-date?
On my desktop, my StarCluster version is as follows:
% starcluster --version
StarCluster - (http://star.mit.edu/cluster) (v. 0.95.6)
Software Tools for Academics and Researchers (STAR)
Please submit bug reports to [email protected]
0.95.6
My cluster's distro is:
% uname -ar
Linux master 3.8.0-35-generic #50-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 3 01:24:59 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
EDIT: FWIW, the following is the distro for my desktop (not the cluster):
% uname -ar
Linux xxx 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.43-2 (2017-04-30) x86_64 GNU/Linux
