Tweet when player overtakes another in rankings

Could we send a Tweet each time a player overtakes another in the rankings?

Example text:

"Ranking update:
Player A is now in X place
Player B is now in Y place
Player C is now in Z place"

We would only list players who's rankings were effected by the recalculation of ranks for the most recent game. I'm assuming by posting a game, ranks are recalculated, as opposed to ranks recalculating at some other interval, or based on some other action.

This may be appropriate for the top ranks, where change is less frequent. But it might be overwhelming for the players in the middle of the ranks, like me, where they pass or get passed by about 5 players with each game.

In any case, ranks are not currently stored, but we could add that.

I'd agree. Perhaps just the top 5 places or another arbitrary number.

The user should be able to set a flag for whether or not they get a tweet about ranking.

Any user can choose not to follow @MantaPingPong, of course. These tweets wouldn't really be directed to anyone.

I don't really understand how the application could send a tweet to me, and not to someone else, as we have not been talking about Direct Messages here.

Too many tweets might make our twitter account less interesting which will happen if we report every change in ranking. I was working on tweeting change in top 3 which is most interesting to everyone. I will try to find sometime coming week but if someone wants to do it earlier, let me know.
