Question: backreference from first

I'm looking into minisnip and wanted to make a script that converts snippets from other plugins.
The first thing I found a little awkward in minisnip is the beackreference from last, but not an issue, until I tried to convert the snippets.
How big of a change would be to make backreferences from first?
I understand is not something you want to do in minisnip, but I might do it for me.

Ok looks like the change is trivial, just don't use len(s:placeholder_texts) when replacing.
Would you consider adding an option, i.e. g:minisnip_backreffirst = 1?
