Specified YAML not found

Hi,

I tried on two different systems (Docker, VM) to start the tool but both systems did not work.
The error occurred by configuring the scenes yaml.
I have 5 scenes defined and I also checked the configuration.yaml as well as the scenes.yaml
Everything is fine.

Is there a possibility to understand further the given path or someone have the same problem?

HA Version: 2025.10.1

After more deep analysis I found out that I need to add the real path "/config/scenes.yaml" and then it is working.

Is this intended to be like that? In my understanding the CONF_SCENE_PATH needs to be added with the path "/config/ " before opening the file?!

Hi, the default works for home assistant OS and the default location of the scenes file. Other installation methods may have different relative locations of where to find the file.

Ok and it will work for many others I think but I don't understand what my systems makes so special.

1. System = Homeassistant OS on Unraid made by the Docker Container of Spaceinvader One
2. System = Docker Container from Linuxserver

I also double checked and in both systems the configuration.yaml and the scenes.yaml is in the path of "/config"

Can you help me in which folder your scene.yaml is?

For me on HAOS (bare metal) it's under /root/config/scenes.yaml as reported by the terminal integration.

However when looking under Settings > System > Repairs > three dots, System Information it shows as /config.

The second one is inside the Home Assistant container though which makes this whole thing quite confusing.

I can add some extra information to the docs to help users find the config dir.

Ahh I see the problem.

In my VM there was no scene in the yaml file, only Hue scenes
After I created one scene it was working.
--> My fault!
I also saw that there is /root/config as well as /config folders which direct to the same folder

In the Docker environment I saw that the /root folder was completely empty but the /config folder was the correct folder.

Would it make sense to change it from /root/config to /config?

Maybe misunderstood and not checked the code, so I thought you are checking the scenes.yaml in /root/config as the base dir and maybe it could make sense to change it to just /config dir.

As far as I remember, I don't add anything to the path specified during the config, but I am happy to be proven wrong if not.

I'm also having a problem with the installing.
It's not described the error in detail, so I've already tried /config or root/config, but without succes.

Please be careful to use the correct path "/root/config"
the leading / is important

What does the log says? System --> protocol

but scenes are included in the scenes.yaml

I also had scenes there but they have been created by Hue. --> Error
Please try to create a new one.

I created new scenes with and without Hue bulbs, both times -> No scenes file /root/config/scenes.yaml
These are also visible in the scenes.yaml

Normally not. Worked also for me like that.

• What HA are you using? Docker or HA OS?
• Could you check and show with the terminal plugin or somehow, how your folder structure is organised?
• Could you also check about the rights of the file? (mine is - 644 (-rw-r--r--) and root root - at a HA OS)

What is confusing is your error code because by error code is always like in my first message

@Ripper6666 Can you share you scenes.yaml? The screenshot may indicate that the file was found but not correctly parsed.
