Any idea if these versions of pytest and pytest-dependency can be used and do not have any issues?

Updating the dependencies should be fine as long as the samples presubmits tests pass. If this dependency update or a future one causes presubmits to fail, follow the steps below:

  1. File an issue in https://github.com/googleapis/python-spanner/issues and include the stack trace
  2. Revert the proposed dependency update by directly editing the renovate-bot PR
  3. In the same PR, or a separate PR add a comment in code with a link to the issue from 1
