After fixing

It was noted in

• go 1.26rc3, go@1.25 1.25.7 (new formula) Homebrew/homebrew-core#258912

that his bug is also affecting go1.26rc3, so the fix also needs to be (back?)ported/cherry picked to Go 1.26 release branch (release-branch.go1.26), preferably before 1.26 release.

We still need to review this cherry pick, which will happen next week, but to set expectations we do not intend to include it in 1.26.0, since this is very late (1.26.0 is scheduled to release next week) and because it also affects 1.24 and 1.25. Thus, it would likely end up in 1.26.1 for consistency with fixing the other affected versions (i.e., also fixing in 1.25.8).
