In the eighties we called it aunuksenkarjala.
Liygi is livvin in the genetive. Haugi is havvin.
Livvinkarjala is feasible for native speakers, but someone has been pushing genitive minus n for a long time. The ISO code has adapted the "exonym" Livvi even though Olonets-Karelian points directly at «olo» and Olonets = Aunus.
Hmm, «Livvinkarjal» would be nominative singular, wouldn't it?
English would take hyphen: Livvi-Karelian if you prefer the «Livvi» element over «Olonets».

We've accepted livvi correct as a loan, even though it's different natively. Like you could "correctly" say in Finnish "mää puhun livviä". Liygi & livvinkarjal are the Karelian names for the dialect. Like loaning a recognisable name back to English seems nice.

I haven't heard the hyphenated form before but also haven't talked about Karelian in English much before. But I know I'll have to have this conversation about the language name with people soon anyway so I'll bring it up 😆 In my opinion this can wait until then

You were right it's Livvi-Karelian and Viena Karelian! I'll change the language name to Livvi-Karelian wherever I can. So the description should be:
