Wrapper vs Template

Hi, I'm quite new with static site generators. I'd just like to clarify the difference between pages/_template and wrappers/md.js

I've been reading up on posts about Gatsby and watch videos, but I still couldn't get it exactly. I'm confused since they seem to show how a post and the index page would look like. I'm familiar how a template works though (I've used on Jekyll and Rails). Would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

okay nevermind, I figured out a few minutes after posting this noob question. If I got it right, posts in .md are wrapped as react components before they get rendered inside the template component?
