Feature Example: "In settings I can link AI models to each button combination from CTRL+1 up to CTRL+9. While creating a new chat or being in a existing chat, I can quickly change from AI model by pressing the CTRL+Number combination I linked to a specific AI model. This would improve the speed of working with big-AGI tremendously".

Assessment

This is a well-defined feature request for quick model switching via keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9). The current workflow requires Ctrl+L to open the model dropdown, then searching/scrolling to find the desired model.

Current State

• Ctrl+L opens the model dropdown (in AppChat.tsx:606)
• Models are managed via the domain system with primaryChat being the main conversational model
• The useModelsStore allows programmatic model switching via assignDomainModelId('primaryChat', llmId)
• Keyboard shortcuts infrastructure exists in src/common/components/shortcuts/

Implementation Options

Option 1: Quick-access slots (User-configurable)

• Add a new settings section to configure up to 9 model "slots" (Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9)
• Store the slot-to-model mapping in a new Zustand slice
• Register shortcuts in AppChat.tsx that call assignDomainModelId('primaryChat', slotModelId)
• Pros: Full user control, arbitrary models in any slot
• Cons: Requires configuration UI, more complex

Option 2: Starred models auto-mapping

• Auto-assign Ctrl+1-9 to the first 9 starred models (starred models already exist)
• Pros: Zero configuration, leverages existing starred system
• Cons: Less control over order, limited to starred models

Option 3: Recent models

• Auto-assign shortcuts to recently used models
• Cons: Unstable ordering

Recommended Approach

Option 2 (starred models) seems like the best balance of simplicity and utility:

1. Users already star favorite models
2. No new UI needed - just documentation
3. Quick to implement

However, if full control is desired, Option 1 would provide the most flexibility and could be added to the existing AI settings panel (AppChatSettingsAI.tsx).
