DCOS 1.7 and Kubernetes

Is there planned support in the new Mesosphere Universe for Kubernetes? I am running into this issue when I follow instructions get using kubernetes on mesos:

dcos package install --options=/tmp/options.json kubernetes
Repository version [1.0.0-rc1] is not supported

Following instructions here:
https://kubernetes.io/docs/getting-started-guides/dcos/#support-level

It seems like the multiverse was deprecated in version 1.6 and these instructions weren't updated.

I always have this doubt on how mesosphere or rancher-os or any software which uses kubernetes determines a stable version when we have version release monthly twice.

There is a .8 branch in the kubernetes on Mesos in kubrenetes-incubator repo that is attempting to not be a fork.
