current branch crashes with no errmsg unless .hosts.erlang file is found

creating .hosts.erlang file in home dir solves the issues

To run this as a service, I did this:

sudo apt-get install erlang
sudo touch /usr/lib/erlang/.hosts.erlang
cd ~/edis
sudo make service

[binarytemple]

This has been fixed by d96a47a at least when executing via 'make run'. A more obvious error message/error handling might be a good thing.
