_That's an interesting take on it. I haven't checked if you have options to change the controls (I use F to fire and SPACE to thrust when playing on MAME). If not, consider adding that customization. I also noticed my ship can have more than 3 shots on-screen at once which almost feels like cheating.
But otherwise, I very much enjoyed the fluidity of the play and its fun music. I'm sure purists which pshaw it, but it's very nice work._
A classic mode that only allows up to three live shots at a time might be a good enhancement, especially for players who would prefer something closer to the original.
