[Feature Request] - OpenSSL version 3.3.0 support

We have the MySQL version 8.4 repo

https://dev.mysql.com/get/mysql84-community-release-el9-1.noarch.rpm

installed on our Amazon Linux 2023 system

$ rpm -q system-release --qf "%{VERSION}\n"
2023.10.20260202

and have been installing both the mysql-community-client and mysql-shell packages for a while now with no issues right up to and including MySQL version 8.4.7.

However, I just tried to update the packages to MySQL version 8.4.8, and while the mysql-community-client was upgraded without issues, the mysql-shell upgrade failed.

$ sudo dnf upgrade mysql-shell

Describe the solution you'd like
/usr/lib64/libssl.so.3 currently appears to support multiple OpenSSL versions up to 3.2.0. We'd like version 3.3.0 support added.

Describe alternatives you've considered
We simply won't upgrade our mysql-shell client, but will stick with version 8.4.7.

There is a plan to update OpenSSL on AL2023 - likely to v3.5 as it's the latest LTS. In the near term then The Fedora 42 MySQL community release may also still work.

Note that this sort of problem may continue to be an issue, because Amazon Linux 2023 is not designed to be directly compatible with RHEL9. Packages need to be built for Amazon Linux 2023 to ensure compatibility.

Would an alternate approach for using MySQL (rather than MariaDB) on AL2023 be where there are MySQL packages available in the AL2023 package repositories? Would this fit your use case?

Having MySQL packages available in AL2023 would solve our problem nicely.

All "our" MySQL servers are hosted in RDS, so "we" don't actually need the community-server packages, but we do need to be able to communicate with those RDS MySQL v8.4 servers from our EC2 servers.

To accomplish that, we have been using the EL9 versions of the MySQL community-client and tools packages to get access to:

• mysql (the cli tool)
• mysqldump
• msqlsh

If access to those was part of AL2023, I'd be more than happy to retire our use of the EL9 packages and switch.
