The `read' function of Emacs 30 no longer accepts a list containing a string as if it was a string. This may be a bug in Emacs.

This avoids jorgenschaefer/emacs-buttercup#247 . The actual bug is probably some problem with the stacktraces. Your solution from jorgenschaefer/emacs-buttercup#218 (comment) might also work around the problem.
