Cannot edit config.toml without "unexpected error"

I apologize if this might be a simple problem, but I've had no luck in trying to fix this; I'm attempting to edit the config.toml to utilize my own information but whenever I do - even if it is just to open and save the config file without making any changes - I get an unexpected token error from Hugo. Any idea what might be causing this?

With the latest version of this theme in #23 there should'nt be any issues when you follow the Installation and Configuration section from the README by using the latest hugo version.
