Add preference option for infinite search history

Feature description

I want the search history listing on the search icon to be infinitely reloading as you scroll down. This can be implimented as default or an option.

Why do you want this feature?

I have turned off almost all distractions like the homepage but i often find myself not being able to come up with something to search and i look at my search history. However the scrolling on search history is limited so i often find myself spending time more on ther apps. Think this would help

For the record there was a PR #2666 before this issue was made.

It was noted there:

Current behavior: search history is capped at 25 entries when opened, and 3 entries when typing, I do agree that default no. of previous entries shown are too less, default no. of entries shown should be increased by a handsome margin.

There is also a related issue to pin favorite search queries #11004 which adds more significance now as this issue has been highlighted.

Hi, I’d like to take this issue and work on the implementation.

Currently, the search history list is limited to 25 entries. My plan is to add a new preference option in the settings to allow users to enable “Infinite Search History”.

Here’s my rough implementation idea:

Add a new SwitchPreference in history_settings.xml to control whether infinite search history is enabled.
Update the HistoryRecordManager logic to read this preference — if disabled, keep the 25-entry limit; if enabled, remove the limit.
The SearchHistoryDAO queries can remain mostly unchanged, only adjusting the LIMIT dynamically based on the preference value.
This approach keeps backward compatibility while providing users with more flexibility to manage their search history.
I’ll start working on this in my local branch and make sure it passes Checkstyle and functionality tests.
