My Mint uses Xfce4 ecosystem, so kdialog is not found.

Also should not expected Xfce4 user should install kdialog, it may have many dependency for KDE base

btw, those binaries are built from WSL2 (due to my 10M network and unexpected scheduled network speed throttling)

One of branch in tfd is std::io::stdin().read_line (hope it will blocking all the threads)
My guess is that it will wait for user to input from command line
In tfd, this will only happens if zenity and kdialog not found, but found Xdialog or dialog.
but of course, need to make sure the focus on user will be transfer to command line window.
I'm not sure the behaviour if user is detach the command line output by & or sth

When you try zenity --entry --text="Text" --entry-text="Entry Text" --title="Title" --modal.
Direct run from terminal, this will prevent you to re-focus to the terminal window, different from not adding --modal
When run with shell/bash script (even regardless of marking shebang or not), it's the same among . ./zm-modal.sh, source ./zm-modal.sh, bash ./zm-modal.sh, ./zm-modal.sh that it will prevent you to re-focus to the terminal window

"Prevent you to re-focus" in Linux Mint xfce4-terminal means:

• Your all input will force to input on the GUI input box
• You can't re-focus on the CLI cursor in terminal by click on terminal window
• You can still interact with terminal interface (excluding the CLI)
• Minimize of input box is based on the terminal, if you minimize the terminal, it will be minimize.
• Only "Maximize" and "Close" is available for input box window, no "Minimize" button
• [xfce4-terminal] You can bypass it by [Help] > [About] > Close, the focus will back to CLI, you can continue to type sth. But similarly, it will focus to GUI input box if you click any place of the terminal (including window border)

In the Phira version which is still using tfd::InputBox¹, if don't maximize the terminal

Linux Mint 22.1 (X11, xfwm4, Xfce4, x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu)

In Linux Mint, the input box is based on terminal (no single window), and matches all the feature I mentioned above
Their stacking pattern is like this, which explains why the original Issue's Phira window is hidden.

If double-tap the binary from file explorer, the behavior is to new a "Input" window, and only blocking the rendering of phira, phira window can still minimize.

Fedora 43 (Wayland, Mutter, GNOME, x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu)

But in Fedora with ptyxis 49.2, it just new a window for input box, and stack on top of Phira
The executing method from file explorer is the same, just no terminal, still new a window for input box

If run zenity from terminal directly, it's still a new window, and no prevention mechanism. You can feel free to type between 2 interfaces
