Shady Ali

A Computer Science student, dual enrolled at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities (expected graduation: May 2026) and Egypt University of Informatics, with a passion for AI Research, Mathematics, Machine Learning, and Software Engineering. (GPA: 4.0 at UMN, 3.9 at EUI)

Recent updates about me

  • I started doing directed research at MinnesotaNLP lab for Fall 2025!
  • I started working part-time at UMN's AI Makerspace!
  • I'm currently in the United States studying at the University of Minnesota, Twin Citites, as a full-time student!
  • I recently started an exciting journey of learning and applying Language Modeling and Word Vector representation from the very beginning, check out the full repo!
  • PAIR has been accepted at Springer's International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems (Q2 journal).
  • I made my first ever open-source contribution for CrewAI-Tools. Checkout the Pull Request.

Research

I'm also actively involved in research:

  • PAIR: A Novel Large Language Model-Guided Selection Strategy for Evolutionary Algorithms (Accepted at International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems): Leveraged LLMs to significantly improve partner selection in evolutionary algorithms, achieving a 62% reduction in the optimality gap. Developed scalable and well-documented code.

  • Time Series and Predictive Analysis of Egypt's Net Migration Patterns (Under Publication): Conducted a comprehensive analysis of Egypt's net migration patterns using statistical and economic methods.

  • MotionCaution: Smartphone Application for Securing the Motions of Real-Time Vehicles (Published in Springer LNNS as proceedings of ICCCNet-2024 conference): Developed a proof-of-concept application using Kotlin and Google Cloud Platform APIs, and contributed to the theoretical explanation of Decision Tree models in the paper.
