Description
I believe the Adjusted Sensible Recovery Efficiency is being used incorrectly in our ERV/HRV calculations. The HVI definition states This value should be used for energy modeling when wattage for air movement is separately accounted for in the energy model.; however, we're currently setting it directly to the Apparent Sensible Effectiveness, which is a "net" performance metric accounting for fan heat. This is why the apparent effectiveness is used directly in Manual J calculations.
See attached 2009 version of CSA 439.
Canadian Standards Association-C439-09.pdf
Based on the definition of Adjusted Efficiency, I believe this value should be directly set to vent_mech_sens_eff , which is the sensible effectiveness of the ERV/HRV core and used by the E+ model. If the Adjusted Efficiency is specified by the user, then we need to calculate the Apparent Effectiveness for the Manual J calculation.
