LG TV Connection failed

What happened?

Hy,
When I try to setup this app on a LG TV 2024, I get this error:
✗ Connection failed: {'type': 'error', 'id': 0, 'error': '401 insufficient permissions', 'payload': {}}
I have config\smartest-tv\lg_key.db on my system
I try to delete lg_key.db and I get de prompt on TV, but after I get OK on promt I see on CLI erorr with 401 insufficient permissions.
I have other apps connected to my LG TV (LG THINQ APP - android)

Hey, this should be fixed now. Turns out bscpylgtv (the LG library stv was using) doesn't handle the new permission requirements in webOS 24/25 — your 2024 TV hit that wall.

I migrated the LG driver to aiowebostv, which is the library Home Assistant uses for its LG TV integration. It's actively maintained and supports the latest webOS firmware.

The fix is on main and will be in the next release. To try it now:

pip install git+https://github.com/Hybirdss/smartest-tv.git
stv setup

When you run stv setup you'll see the pairing prompt on your TV again — press OK and it should save the new key and connect. If you get stuck, run stv doctor and share the output.

Leaving this open until you confirm it works on your end.

Released as v1.0.2 — you can now upgrade via PyPI:

pip install -U stv
stv setup

When you run stv setup or any stv command, you'll see a new pairing prompt on your TV (the old bscpylgtv key is backed up automatically). Press OK on the remote and it should connect.
