The South Africa mirror is no longer maintained. If you visit the site https://gmt.mirror.ac.za/gmtdata/, you will see the following notice:

TENET's mirror service has been decommissioned. The resource you are requesting is no longer available here.
A list of alternative mirrors may be found at https://www.generic-mapping-tools.org/mirrors/.
Please update your bookmarks or configuration to refer to another mirror.
