Cleanup of issue tracker

I see a lot of issues in the tracker that have been open for more than a year. Many of them are obsolete, some request features that have been created, without the associated issues being closed. Other pertain long requested or commented on things that are still relevant. 

I suggest we have a look them before release 2.5.
