You are right, that will be very useful!

To my knowledge, gmailr (https://gmailr.r-lib.org/articles/gmailr.html) refers to a Python Quickstart for creating credentials.

Here is the link they provide https://developers.google.com/gmail/api/quickstart/python

So I think it is possible, but via Python or everything should be translated into R (not sure if there are all packages required for that).

I need to further check how feasible this is
