Just an organizational PR to merge the Json and Nimbus feature branches to help resolve conflicts. Most of the changes were already approved in #947 and #948
The only new changes are those in the "Resolve merge conflicts" commit, which resolves some conflicts in JsonHelper and fixes some tests in ManagedIdentityTests to use the new formats.
