Changes proposed in this Pull Request:

Make sure the custom bylines output works without CoAuthors Plus.

NOTE: Custom Bylines should NOT support Guest Authors

How to test the changes in this Pull Request:

  1. define( 'NEWSPACK_BYLINES_ENABLED', true );
  2. With CAP active, create a custom byline with a few authors
  3. Visit the front end and confirm you see it
  4. Deactivate co-authors plus and confirm the front end looks just the same

Other information:

  • Have you added an explanation of what your changes do and why you'd like us to include them?
  • Have you written new tests for your changes, as applicable?
  • Have you successfully ran tests with your changes locally?

Yup! Works great.

There is a little bit of cleanup we could do when removing the code:

Line 28: The AVATAR_ARGS constant is now unused
Line 184: the global var for co-authors-plus is not used anywhere.
